8/13/2015 · St Mary ‘s Glacier is at 10,000 ft. elevation. A mile or two before St . Mary ‘s Glacier is Alice Historical Site, the reminants of an old mining site. There is not much left to see at this site. Park at the St . Mary ‘s Glacier trailhead along the county road, and hike 3/4 mi. on a fairly steep, rock strewn trail up to the glacier .
11/24/2019 · Starting The Hike to St. Mary’s Glacier. From the immediate start of the trail, you’ll be hiking up a steady incline. A moderate ascent that will last basically the entirety of the trail until you reach the lake. A slight puffer but nothing too intense as long as you take breaks when needed.

6/16/2020 · St. Mary’s Glacier Hiking Tips The trail is very rocky and may be wet, icy, or snowy depending on the time of year and the weather. It’s a short hike, less than 2 miles round trip, making it suitable for almost all hikers but use discretion when hiking with young kids.
The hike was difficult almost all up hill and Rocky on the way up but views were totally worth it when we got there! Was awesome to be able to hike all the way to the glacier. There were people skiing on it when we were there. Temperature was low 60s in August so bring a sweat shirt. Beautiful place to take photos..
9/20/2019 · From this point, the trail is clearly defined to the summit. As you ascend the trail you’ll come into view of Loch Lomond, Ice Lake, Mt. Flora, Bancroft, Perry, and Eva, as well as Mt. Evans, Bierstadt, and Gray’s and Torreys to the south. The trail from the tundra basin heads up parallel with the ridge and cuts north just before mile 4.
